Google has removed @k9mail_app from the Play Store for a “policy violation” again. They say they need to be given “app credentials” before they’ll republish it. It’s…an open source email client.

Who do I still know at Google Play who might be able to help…convince the review team to be just a little bit more careful? @mekkaokereke? Pulling apps without prior warning for policy violations that aren’t violations is a bad look. K-9 has been on the Play Store since 2008.

I’m sure K-9’s dev team will ask Google Play to reconsider this particular decision through the dev console, but this really needs to be fixed at a structural level.

A reequest for re-review got submitted today, but it sounds like it might take a few days for Google Play’s reviewers to act on that.
